Cleaning & Disinfecting Ghent Healthcare Products

Ghent Healthcare products are manufactured to be easily cleaned and disinfected. Surfaces and materials are specifically chosen to adhere to BIFMA's guidelines for performance as it relates to typical cleaners, disinfectants, and methods for cleaning and maintenance.

Cleaning

Cleaning removes dust, debris, and germs from surfaces. Using a mild soap or detergent with water to remove any unwanted dirt from surfaces. To prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria, clean surfaces at a minimum between shifts, but ideally multiple times throughout the day.

Disinfecting

Disinfecting sanitizes surfaces and kills any bacteria or germs left on the surface after cleaning. Since using disinfectants does not necessarily clean surfaces or remove germs, but kills them, it is recommended to clean surfaces before disinfecting.

Microfiber cloths are recommended for cleaning and disinfecting to avoid scratching the surface. Studies have shown that microfiber can eliminate bacteria and microbes on surfaces. Never use a paper towel or other abrasive cleaning cloths as they can scratch the surface.

To minimize the risk of damage, use only compatible cleaners and cleaning procedures. Never use ammonia-based cleansers like glass cleaners as they will yellow the surface and leave behind a film.

Additional recommendations:

1

Before cleaning, check to make sure the cleaner complies with your company's health and safety requirements.

2

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use, including proper dilution and dwell time.

3

Never mix cleaners together.

Surfaces

Cleaning: Clean your whiteboard with whiteboard cleaner before initial use, removing any residue from the surface of the board. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Completely erase your board after daily use. The longer marks remain on the board, the more difficult they become to erase. Stubborn, old marks can be erased by marking over them with your black erasable marker. For general cleaning, simply wipe your board clean with a soft, wet cloth. If further cleaning is necessary, use whiteboard cleaner

Disinfecting: Clean the surface before disinfecting. Apply approved disinfectant and allow to dwell per EPA recommendations. After using a disinfectant, we recommend following up by cleaning your surface with warm soapy water before rinsing with clean water and wiping it dry to remove any filmy residue the disinfectant may leave behind on the surface. Compatible disinfectants diluted per CDC recommendations:

  • Pharmacy-grade hydrogen peroxide
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Diluted household bleach
