Located in Humble, Texas, Memorial Hermann Northeast is part of a 14-hospital network that operates throughout the greater Houston area. Memorial Hermann is one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in Southeast Texas. They have offered leading-edge diagnostic technologies and treatment techniques over an impressive 105-year history. The organization currently works with 5,500 affiliated physicians and employs 26,000 other professionals across many fields.
Memorial Hermann needed 90 patient communication boards for their general inpatient rooms, and they needed them quickly. Their target installation date was near, and our team was on a strict deadline to get the boards designed, manufactured, and shipped.
This project was a mixture of consistency and customization. Every Memorial Hermann facility has the same layout and design for their whiteboards, but every facility also needs some unique information placed on their boards. All the boards had to look like they were made for the same brand, but there was new content including unique room and phone numbers that needed to be added to the boards for the Northeast location.
When it comes to hospital whiteboards, glass is the clear choice. Memorial Hermann loved the look and utility of our Glassboards with Stand-offs, and we were soon hard at work laying out 2' x 3' boards to help them treat their patients. Information fields were highlighted with sharp, black bars that call attention to where patients can find the information they are looking for. We also added a few key fields in red, creating a stark contrast with the black that alerts patients to the most important information present on the boards.
Since speed was extremely important for Memorial Hermann, we prioritized the creation of their whiteboards, kept our lead time short, and even pushed up our ship date to get the boards out sooner than expected, all to the delight of their team.
It was like getting a birthday present early in the mail from that out-of-town relative!
The response from Memorial Hermann has been fantastic. They truly understand the value of custom whiteboards and how they help improve communication with patients. Patients like the boards because all of the information is in one spot and is easily seen on the wall across from their beds. Added messages to the boards like "Please call, don't fall," also help reduce incidents that cause patient injuries by reminding them that nurses are just the press of a button away.
