WVU hospital patient room whiteboards

On our last Into the Lime Light, we presented the 287 hospital whiteboards we designed for Golisano Children’s Hospital. This time around, we are happy to show the results from another recent client: West Virginia University Hospital.

This Time on In the Lime Light: West Virginia University Hospital

Located in Morgantown, WV, West Virginia University Hospital is the state’s largest healthcare provider. This massive 690-bed facility acts as an academic medical center that offers tertiary and quaternary care and is affiliated with the WVU Health Sciences Center, four community hospitals, three critical access hospitals and a children’s hospital. They provide a wide range of care for patients of all ages.

A Small Order, at First…

West Virginia University Hospital approached VividBoard in 2015 with a small order for two (large) whiteboards that were to be placed in their nurses’ stations. Little did we know that this was just a small drop in the bucket for their whiteboard needs, and it was acting as a “test” to see if we could deliver precisely what they needed in their whiteboard solutions.

Did We Pass?

The verdict: they loved the initial whiteboard designs we created for their nurses’ stations, and in the years to follow, they would go on to order 428 more custom whiteboards to use as communication boards in most of their patient rooms.

Their Whiteboard Solution

WVU Medicine opted for our Classic line of whiteboards because their traditional aesthetic and versatile design options. They wanted several things in their whiteboards:

  • A large logo to keep everything consistent and on brand.
  • Clean lines with a simple design and layout.
  • Completely black and white coloring (with the exception of their logo)

The finished black-and-white boards were a nice harken back to the simplicity of Silent Era films, and they went perfectly with the traditional look of our Classic Whiteboards. The minimalist design made the text easy to read and the lack of color really made their logo stand out. In the end, the whiteboards were a testament to how a sleek, simple design can create a beautiful communication board that is easy to read.
