Helping Providers and Patients During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Oct 13, 2017

breast cancer awareness month

October is breast cancer awareness month, and at VividBoard we are helping to raise awareness for the more than 3.1 million women and men who currently have, or have had, breast cancer in their lifetime.

Breast Cancer Facts and Statistics

According to Breastcancer.org:

  • Over 300,000 new cases, both invasive and non-invasive, of breast cancer will be diagnosed in women by the end of 2017.

  • Men diagnosed with breast cancer will add approximately 2,500 more cases to that total.

  • It is estimated that 12% of women (1 in 8) will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life.

  • About 85% of breast cancer cases occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer — most cases are the result of a gene mutation associated with aging which is why it's so important for women to learn the correct ways to check for it.

  • Risk factors can include age, ethnicity, weight, pregnancy history and many other factors you can learn more about here.

How VividBoard Can Help

We are focused on fostering healthy communication between providers and patients so doctors and nurses can provide timely and pertinent information patients need during their treatment.

By providing the best possible products, we can give healthcare providers the tools they need to help their patients. Using the right customized whiteboard, providers can:

  • Reduce anxiety in breast cancer patients undergoing treatment.

  • Communicate with patients during treatment to keep them informed on progress, goals, upcoming procedures, etc.

  • Explain the side effects and reasons for taking specific types of medication.

  • Leave care instructions for nurses and other staff members to help them provide a more comfortable environment for patients.

  • Better serve and treat patients who speak languages other than English.

Using Whiteboards to Help Women and Men in Every Area of the Hospital

Hospitals frequently use our custom dry erase boards in their:

  • Oncology areas

  • Patient rooms

  • Maternity and delivery units

  • Nursing stations

  • Pediatric areas

  • Behavioral health facilities

  • Waiting rooms and hallways
