Despite consistent cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms and medical instruments, more than 2 million people in the US each year obtain infections in U.S. hospitals, according to the Centers for Disease Control. These infections directly contribute to 19,000 deaths and indirectly contribute to another 80,000, and treating them costs hospitals an average of $4.5 billion a year.
To prevent the spread of bacteria, many hospitals have turned to glass whiteboards because of they leave fewer places for bacteria to grow and thrive. This is due to their significantly less porous surfaces, when compared to standard whiteboards. While glass whiteboards are a great way to maintain a clean patient environment, and limit the spread of bacteria, you don't have to limit yourself to only glass surfaces.
The patented VividShieldTM coating on our Classic VivdBoards is easy to clean and disinfect. While many whiteboards made from lower quality materials can become damaged and ruined by hospital grade cleaners and disinfectants, the whiteboards we make here at VividBoard can be cleaned without worrying about damaging the surface.
Nurses can easily clean our hospital whiteboards using:
Glance® SC Glass & Multi-Surface Cleaner
Dispatch® Hospital Cleaner Disinfectant with Bleach
CaviWipes
Goo Gone®
Clorox® Germicidal Wipes
Steriplex® Wipes
Combine that with a lifetime warranty that protects against ghosting and fading and your whiteboard investment will provide your hospital with years of safe use.
Infections are often caused by acinetobacter baumannii (MDR-AB), which according to a study conducted in Washington, D.C. was found on 9.8% of surface samples from 48% of rooms that were tested. When combined with the high transference rates of bacteria, hospitals have a reason to clean and disinfect often.
While repeatedly scrubbing standard whiteboards with abrasive instruments doused in hospital-grade cleaners can mitigate the growth and transference of bacteria, this can severely damage your whiteboards and decrease their lifespan. At VividBoard, we don't recommend using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads on any whiteboards. The ideal financial and health-conscious solution is to invest in whiteboards that reduce the levels of bacteria, such as glass whiteboards, or those that can easily cleaned and disinfected. Your investment in VivdBoard products will reduce the chances of bacteria transference and and provide you with easy-to-clean whiteboards for your entire hospital.
